The Pump Settings Tool for Insulin Pumps and Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) Systems, based on the dosing principles outlined in Pumping Insulin with Automated Insulin Delivery, helps optimize both basal and bolus settings for insulin pumps and AID systems. This tool aids users in managing diabetes by providing personalized settings and recommendations based on their weight, 14-day average glucose, and Total Daily Dose (TDD) of insulin. If this is your first time using the tool, please read below for more details about how it works. If you are a returning user, click the link below.
Try the AID System and Pump Setting Tool
Important: This tool is designed for clinicians and individuals who have received approval for glucose self-management from their healthcare provider. It is meant to support professional guidance and not to replace medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized recommendations.
The tool elevates your TDD to a betterTDD to lower an elevated 14-day average glucose, a more common issue in diabetes, and provides configurations for an insulin pump and an AID system. Balancing these configurations often helps reduce glucose variability. If you have questions, please consult your clinician about adjusting your settings. If you are new to an AID system or unsure about changing settings, always try the pump settings first. An AID system with internal regulation can manage the 5% to 10% stronger settings for AID systems.
For clarity on any requested information, click the green “i” icon beside each entry for further instructions. Please note that you will need data from your Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM), insulin pump, and relevant downloaded data to provide the necessary information. Consult your AID or insulin pump manuals. Ensure all data entered is numerical—avoid using text or special characters.
Low Glucose Adjustment:
Please lower your average TDD before proceeding if you regularly experience low blood sugars (usually more than 3% of the time below 70 mg/dL or 3.9 mmol/L). Over-treatment and stress hormone release from frequent lows may inappropriately elevate your 14-day average glucose.
- Multiply your TDD by 0.95 for occasional lows
- Multiply by 0.90 for severe lows
Should you log in?
You can log in before using the tool, or you can continue using it as a guest without losing any functionality. Logging in allows us to group your entries, and, in a future upgrade, we will provide additional advice on time in range goals, excess glucose variability, bolus timing, and more. Rest assured, your data will not be used or sold. After selecting your username, your input data will not be linked to you with any identifiable information.
